Deliverable 4.2 Harvesting metadata using the OAI-PMH protocol

When preserving and disseminating information on the Web, the harvesting process plays a
crucial role. The harvesting process will get all the needed metadata that needs to be
preserved and disseminated. The whole preservation and dissemination flow of the Archipel
framework starts with harvesting all the needed data. This data will be mapped to a
common metadata format during this harvesting process before ingesting the data into the
framework. This allows treating all the harvested records, described in different metadata
formats, the same way or in other words, to create a common view on the diverse
harvested metadata records.
